Indirect Method: In the indirect method, a scintillator is used to convert X-ray photons into optical photons. These visible light photons then interact with photodiode arrays to be converted into electrons, which can activate the pixels of an amorphous silicon layer. The result of this pixel activity is a series of electronic data that is converted into high-quality digital images by a computer, which are then displayed on a monitor.
In digital devices, or DR (Digital Radiography), instead of using phosphor plates for image storage, X-ray detectors are used to form images. Therefore, in these systems, the cassette is eliminated, and the speed of image formation and viewing is significantly higher than that of CR (Computed Radiography) and analog radiography (film-screen). The Iranian company Negin Homay Rahmat has enabled digital imaging of livestock by importing various detectors. Digital devices are divided into two categories based on the type and method of converting X-rays to digital images: direct and indirect devices.
